Let's not do Brooklyn F.C.

USL League One just announced that a new Brooklyn franchise will be joining the league starting in 2025. Here are the two names they should be considering…
1) Brooklyn Wanderers
That’s THE legacy name for Brooklyn soccer clubs. Heck, you could even go Brooklyn Wanderers F.C. to appease the current trend to use FC on everything (even though it should be SC). Original version launched in 1895. The classic version was part of the Golden Age’s American Soccer League through the 1920s. There was a post-WWII version in the ASL. And, they never won anything — which is a Brooklyn sports tradition!
2) Brooklyn Robins
I know what you’re thinking… isn’t that the old name for the Brooklyn Dodgers? Yes, old white sports dude, that’s true. But, the Robins Dry Dock F.C. was a Great War era Brooklyn club that played in the National Association Football League. The Robins won the AFA Challenge Cup in 1920 and 1921. And, the club achieved a national cup double by also winning the National Challenge Cup (now the U.S. Open Cup) in 1921. So, you get double the Brooklyn sports history. You might even say you’re killing two birds with one stone… (sigh).
