SLSL 1921-22 season

With Cardinal Park no longer available, the St. Louis Soccer League played at High School Field, the renamed old Federal League Park, for the 1921-22 season. The four SLSL clubs drew first round National Challenge Cup byes and the inter-league NCC matches again counted in the league standings.

While the same teams continued from prior seasons, the Innisfails underwent a name change. In late September, 1921, owner and manager Willie Foley announced that the team would be known as the De Andreis team. The club's new title was derived from the De Andreis Council, Knights of Columbus. In addition, Pete Ratican, manager of the Ben Millers, would not take an active part in directing the club due to his continued illness. Ratican would be represented by captain, Harry Marre.

Tate Brady's Scullin Steel team won their third league title in four years and again made it to the NCC final. On March 19, 1922 the Scullins faced Todd Shipyards of the American Soccer League, the newly-organized major league organization from the east. Scullin Steel avenged their loss from the previous season beating Todd Shipyards 3-2 before 8568 at High School Field.

A week later, the Bradys (largely the Scullin Steel team) beat the Foleys 3-1 before 1800 at High School Field in a benefit for Pete Ratican. And, the next Sunday, and All-East team, managed by Harry Ratican, beat an All-St. Louis team 3-0 before 4000 at High School Field.
