Big changes to the roster occurred in the Baltimore Major Soccer League offseason as only Ashton and Wingfoot returned for the 1940-41 season. A Maryland Germans team returned after a hiatus and two new Baltimore clubs, John Hasslinger S.C. and Morstein S.C. (sponsored by Morstein Jewelry Co.) joined. And, for the first time, clubs outside of Baltimore took part in the competition as Victor Hosiery S.C. from Hagerstown, Md. and Williamsport A.C., better known as the Wildcats, from Williamsport joined the league. But, Wingfoot disbanded almost immediately after its first match.
Morstein was reported to be good enough to join the American Soccer League but none of its players wanted to sign professional contracts. The quality showed as Morstein went through the first half with a perfect record. The Maryland Germans disbanded after two losses in the second half. Ashton managed to beat Morstein in the last match of the second half to win that round and set up a two-game league championship. Morstein won both games to win the BMSL title. Ashton faced Santa Maria Knights of Columbus in the Rowland Cup final. After playing 130 minutes, the two clubs ended in a 1-1 draw but Santa Maria won the replay two weeks later.
The BMSL was inactive during the 1941-42 season.
